The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) has recast its honorary life membership and named it in honor of Leet "Ed" Denton, retired president of Denton Enterprises of St. Clair Shores, Mich. Denton also became the first recipient of the namesake membership category.

Earlier this year, the ACPA board of directors approved the renaming of the ACPA Honorary Life Membership to the ACPA/Leet Denton Honorary Life Membership. Noting his more than 50 years of commitment and service to the Association, it is the ACPA board's hope this recognition will both recognize and convey the hard work, creativity, innovation, and boldness that were the hallmarks of Denton's remarkable career.

Awarded selectively since 1972 and limited to no more than two selections in any given year, this special membership is presented to individuals that are retiring or have retired from ACPA member companies and have demonstrated their commitment and compassion for the industry and ACPA.

Nominations are made by current members of the board of directors.

Denton was presented the award during a special ceremony at the closing banquet during ACPA's 56th annual meeting. He also was honored with a tribute video, which captured just a few highlights of his illustrious career, which began when he was 16 years old. The video also notes that he was at the very first ACPA Annual Meeting in December 1964.
