Jack Lyon’s special guest was a HUGE hit with the crowd. Tremendous crowds descended on the Alex Lyon & Son auction in Florida. With a guide in his hand, Dean Bockenhauer of Midwest Equipment from St. Charles, Minn., gets ready to crank up this Caterpillar 924 G wheel loader before bidding on it. Sam Duncan (L) and Mike Phillips of Nationwide Transport Services were roaming the Alex Lyon & Son sale and stopped to look at this Caterpillar 966K wheel loader Swapping notes on some reach forklifts of interest are Dave Keel (L) of Armstrong Equipment, Kansas City, Mo., and Dick Courts, Courts Machinery, Windom, Minn. Tad E. Young II, owner of Key II Logging in Skaneateles, N.Y., checks out this Caterpillar skid steer as a potential piece to add to his fleet back home. Pete Karis of Metro Motors, Lyons, Ill., provided the equipment hauling services for Alex Lyon & Son’s Florida auctions. Looking over several compactors of interest are Trent Knudsen (L) and Doug Bryan of Bryan Heavy Equipment, Oelwein, Iowa. Liking what they saw in this Caterpillar D6R XW are Cody Doom (L) and his grandfather, Mike Herring of Herring Construction, Eddyville, Ky. Some West Coast boys are looking for some machine bargains, (L-R) including Ed Morales, On The Road Trucking, Los Angeles, Calif.; Joe Rexin, Rexin Equipment, Los Angeles; and Mark Mahnen, Wyoming Machinery, Casper, Wyo. Bidders were busy calling, calculating and collaborating when the artics were being auctioned off.

    Alex Lyon & Son led off the Florida Auctions with a nine-day sale in Kissimmee, Fla. The sale began on Jan. 25 and ended on Feb. 5.

    During the auctions — Alex Lyon & Son's 24th annual Florida sale — a wide variety of equipment went on the block with each day featuring more than 1,000 lots of equipment.—CEG
