In its suburban Chicago, IL, shop, Crane & Machinery Inc., recently completed its second remanufacturing project. This project involved completely disassembling an American 5299 crawler crane. The crane has been a part of Case Foundation’s fleet since 1971. Case management decided that it would be more cost-effective to have this machine remanufactured rather than purchasing a new one. Inspectors from American Crane Corp. monitored each phase of the project to ensure that the parts, assemblies and load functions met factory specifications.
After five months in Crane & Machinery’s shop, the remanufactured crane was issued a year 2000 serial number. The total investment on the part of Case was approximately one half what it would have spent on a new crane.
“The new serial number qualifies it as a new crane and thus new crane financing is available,” Mike Pregont, president of Crane & Machinery said. “The crane also carries the same 1 year (2,000 hour) warranty as a new crane. We think this service can truly help our customers reduce their cost to use.”
Crane & Machinery has invested in shop equipment and added experienced service technicians to increase its remanufacturing capabilities.
