The American Public Works Association (APWA) Indiana Chapter hosted the 2018 APWA North American Snow Conference at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis on May 6 to 9. The show featured a series of educational sessions that were eligible for Continuing Education Units and covered topics including fleet maintenance, new innovations and techniques for snow and ice control, operational and personnel management, and safety and environmental issues.
The Indianapolis Convention Center proved to be a popular venue for the 2018 show, attracting more than 2,000 snow and ice management professionals from local and state transportation and public works departments along with other industry professionals from across United States and Canada.
The industry trade show provided attendees an opportunity to meet with representatives from approximately 180 exhibiting industry suppliers on hand to showcase the latest products, equipment and services including snowplows and spreaders, deicing materials, road maintenance equipment, software systems, trucks, as well as compact and large equipment.
Chartered in the United States in 1937, the APWA is an international, not-for-profit organization serving professionals involved in all aspects of public works, including infrastructure and maintenance. APWA has a worldwide membership of more than 30,000 professionals from local, county, state and federal agencies as well as members from the private sector who provide support to the industry with equipment, products and services. The APWA promotes professional excellence and public outreach through education, advocacy and the sharing of ideas and knowledge.
