Manitowoc Cranes and AmQuip celebrated the sale of a new Grove GMK6400 to the Philadelphia-based crane rental company in a ceremony at ConExpo 2011.
The GMK6400 boasts a 450 ton (408 t) maximum capacity, one of the largest capacity six-axle all-terrain cranes.
Dave Hull, Manitowoc senior vice president of sales, North America, called the crane a class-leader with the newest technology and said AmQuip will profit from its capabilities.
“The GMK6400 will be a game-changer in urban areas because of its capacity and features,” Hull said.
New features found on the GMK6400 include a new hydrostatic drive system called mega drive, a single engine for reduced fuel consumption and an operator-rigged mega wing lift capacity-enhancing system.
AmQuip Crane Rental is one of Manitowoc’s trusted pre-production partners, which test new crane models in the field and provide feedback and suggested improvements before the crane goes into full production. They are a leading U.S. crane rental company, with operations serving the northeast, mid-atlantic region, and most midwest and southern states.
