Aponte Construction Company is a heavy highway contractor based in Flemington, N.J.
Founded in 1963, the family-owned and operated business started as strictly a sewer and water utility contractor. The SBE/MBE firm has evolved through the years into a full-service paving and milling company that "self-performs 95 percent of its road work throughout the state," said Owner Frank Aponte.
"Without a doubt, Aponte personnel are the most versatile group of construction professionals. They have the ability and experience to construct everything from large-diameter, deep-cut sewer and water mains to concrete curbs and sidewalks, self-performing with the very same people. Aponte forces self-perform mass excavation, grading, soil remediation, bridge construction, milling and paving on their own NJDOT projects," Aponte explained.
Beyond its public construction projects, Aponte Construction Company has a select group of Fortune 500, private, commercial clients it has served throughout the past 44 years.
In addition to a considerable amount of Komatsu equipment purchased from Binder Machinery, Aponte also owns several pieces of Wirtgen construction equipment. The company has two Wirtgen W2000 half-lane milling machines used for both full-depth pavement removal as well as profile milling; a Vögele 2116 T 8-ft. track paver; and most recently purchased a Hamm HD O120V asphalt roller with oscillation.
"We have owned and operated Wirtgen equipment for more than 17 years and have enjoyed excellent production, reliability and resale value," said Aponte.
This customer satisfaction was what allowed Aponte to add the Wirtgen Vögele paver and Hamm oscillation roller to its fleet of paving equipment.
Asphalt compaction via oscillation uses a front and backward motion that "kneads" the material together. The more traditional method of vibration compaction results in a vertical pounding of the material, resulting in potential crushing of the aggregate. The oscillation form of compaction contributes to less vibration damage to the surrounding work area. Oscillation is particularly useful when working in older cities when buildings are in close proximity to the work area.
Support Delivers Uptime
Company Owner Frank Aponte is pleased to work with Binder Machinery Company, which recently became the Wirtgen Group distributor for New Jersey.
"Binder Machinery made its name by providing the best service around and that's a big plus when it comes to paving products," said Aponte. "With Binder backing us up, we're confident we're going to get the parts and service support that will lead to the uptime we need to be successful."
