On May 10, Reno City Council approved the technology giant's plans for a $4 million shipping and receiving warehouse in downtown Reno.

The move to approve the sale of a 30,000 square-foot vacant lot will benefit the city by making it eligible for millions in tax breaks.

Located near the Tracey coal plant along U.S. I-80, the new facility will not be far from Tahoe Reno Industrial Center where the Switch Data Center and Tesla Gigafactory are located.

The warehouse is part of a $1 billion-dollar expansion to the existing data center and includes hiring more permanent work staff for the original site over at the Reno Technology Park.

Construction of the new facility is estimated to add an additional 300 jobs to the project.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval commented on the ongoing partnership with Apple by stating, "Apple's decision to increase their local investment by $1 billion is a testament to our successful partnership and a demonstration that the best companies in the world are coming to Nevada, creating hundreds of jobs, investing in our communities and making our state their permanent home."(Source USA Today)
