ASC Construction Equipment USA Inc. officially celebrated the opening of its recently completed Bismarck, N.D., facility with an open house on Oct. 29.
Along with a free lunch, provided by Famous Dave’s Barbecue, and door prizes, attendees were treated with the opportunity to meet celebrity guest Dakota Fred (Fred Hurt) of the hit Discovery television show Gold Rush.
ASC is poised to bring its expertise with Volvo heavy equipment to North Dakota.
With its recent acquisition of the sales and service of Volvo brand’s heavy equipment line (motor graders, articulated haulers, excavators and wheel loaders) and utility product line (backhoes, compact wheel loaders, compact excavators and skid steer loaders) from Swanston Equipment Companies, ASC Construction Equipment is set for operations in a new frontier — North Dakota.
“This is a very exciting time for ASC,” said Brad Stimmel, president of ASC Construction Equipment USA Inc. “The opportunities opening up in the sale of construction equipment in North Dakota are almost limitless and, with the processes we are currently completing, I’m sure we have everything we need to achieve great results in this new region.”
Due to the exponential growth in North Dakota’s energy industry, and the related increase in investment in the building of infrastructure, construction equipment sales in the state are on the rise. ASC has entered North Dakota just in time to reap the benefits of that equipment boom, with major facilities open for business in Fargo, Minot and a brand new state-of-the-art hub in Bismarck.
The Bismarck facility is hailed for being environmentally friendly, with computerized lights and other features making it a very “green” operation overall. As the centerpiece in ASC’s foray into the North Dakota market, Bismarck boasts 10 service bays while both Minot and Fargo currently operate at two, with the latter expanding to six over the next several months.
“With the opening of the new offices in Bismarck and in Fargo we are able to provide a more complete parts inventory as well as a more comprehensive service department,” said Glenn Beardsley, general manager of ASC’s North Dakota branches.
Beardsley attributes the durable quality of Volvo’s products as well as its conscious effort to perfect operator safety as two of the biggest reasons for much of the brand’s popularity. In addition, he said, Volvo places a significant emphasis on fuel efficiency.
Having a strong backing from a reputable brand like Volvo will undoubtedly help ASC sell heavy equipment and utility products, but engaging the customer is one of the company’s top priorities moving forward.
“We have started a very strong and aggressive advertising campaign that just rolled out,” said Beardsley. “We have sent out letters of introduction to our customer base, which consists of the government, oil, agriculture, road building, and housing development industries. We will be attending a lot of trade shows, construction events and other functions to get our name out there.”
“The new facility in Bismarck shows our commitment for us to be here in the long term,” Beardsley added. “The quality of the product we sell and as we get up to speed, the quality of support that customers will be able to get from ASC will help us build important relationships now and for the future.”
