The Astec RT1000 offers maximum performance and flexibility in a sleek, modern design. Optional attachments include a trencher, vibratory plow, backfill blade, backhoe and rock saw. A tilt frame and rubber tracks also are optional. The RT1000 can trench as deep as 84 in. (213 cm) and from 7 to 18 in. (17.7 to 45.7 cm) wide.
Ergonomic controls are at the operator’s fingertips from the easy-access operator’s station and a full complement of gauges allow quick and easy monitoring of the machine’s performance.
The 99-hp (74 kW) 4-cylinder turbo-charged QSB3.3 (199 CID) diesel Tier III Stage IIIA Cummins engine is both fuel efficient and powerful, according to the manufacturer. Parts and service for this engine are accessible worldwide and four-wheel steering makes the RT1000 highly maneuverable; crab steering is useful on slopes when countering tractive effort.
Outboard planetaries and differential locks are standard features and hydrostatic ground drive and hydrostatic attachment drive provide optimum footage for trenching or plowing.
The Astec trencher design features a flywheel, torsion shaft and planetary gearbox for smooth operation and long life. A flywheel minimizes trencher stalls in tough digging conditions and reduces pressure spikes. The torsion shaft absorbs shock loads from the driveline. And planetary gears multiply the hydrostatic motor torque to provide digging power.
The RT1000 comes standard with the Astec 357 protection plan. New machines carry a three-year warranty on workmanship and a five-year warranty on the engine at no additional cost.
