Utilizing six 750/45R26.5 tires on 50K rated hubs and spindles and rear self-steering axle make for ease of operation and durability. The hydraulics also transfer weight to all tires while dumping the load on the go or standing still, thus giving it amazing stability while dumping.

SD-36 side dump trailer is quickly proving to contractors, farmers and feedlot managers that you can move large volumes of material faster and cheaper with this light-footed trailer. A 360-degree roll-over hitch provides additional safety for the operator. A CAT IV AG hitch is standard, but both a HD scraper hitch or a HD gooseneck hitch for haul trucks are available. A 3-axle hydraulic suspension system, allows floatation to suppress ground compaction. The SD-36 side dump trailer has a heaped capacity equal to that of a 40-haul truck.

Gary Crabb of AGE Construction in Earlham, Iowa, was in the market for a 30-ton haul truck to add to his fleet. When he visited Mid Country Machinery in Fort Dodge, Iowa, co-owner Mark Swedlund offered him a demo of the SD-36 trailer.

Crabb was sold on the new trailer. In fact, he traded in his newer haul trucks to buy a second trailer. He intends to pull them in tandem with his 630 Quad Trak.

"These trailers are great for hauling wet, mucky soil out of the base of a pond," said Crabb. "There is very little compaction going across farm ground and even with an increased payload, the trailer is much better in muddy conditions than the trucks."

"What really impressed me about this trailer is just the overall quality," said Swedlund. "More than 150 design changes were made on this trailer from the original prototype. Bauer Built Mfg. first became known for designing and building all of John Deere's large hydraulic folding planters [up to a 120-foot bar with forty-eight 30-inch rows] until Deere bought him out in 2013. We tested the trailer while building a large irrigation pond in extremely muddy conditions. We were able to carry larger loads without getting stuck and without leaving deep ruts in the roadways."

The stability and floatation allowed us to dump on the go even in soft, uneven ground and reduce valuable cycle time."

A rear hitch can be added on the frame and combined with a rear hydraulic kit that will allow a single tractor to pull two trailers in tandem. This gives 72 yards struct capacity. After hauling dirt, the pin can be pulled to utilize the built-in hydraulic jack that makes hook ups safe and easy.

"The SD-36 is cheaper to run than haul trucks," said Crabb. "Two trailers will out produce three or four 30-ton haul trucks, so less labor is needed."

The SD-36 side dump trailer was designed by contractors to meet their needs for various jobs in soft conditions. It is being manufactured by Bauer Built Mfg. in Paton, Iowa.
