bidadoo's weekly online auctions have moved to daytime on Tuesday. After 16 years of evening auctions, many factors have prompted this move, including access to mobile technology, growth of buyer base, more commercial grade equipment, more professional buyers and a better buyer experience.

Several factors have contributed to the decision to move to a daytime Tuesday bidadoo auction:

  • 61 percent mobile participation — today's mobile devices enable anytime, anywhere auction participation via mobile friendly sites and applications. Sixteen years ago, bidders were more tied to their desktops to participate in online auctions. A new generation of equipment buyers now prefer to source equipment online during the day.
  • 205 percent growth in U.S. Eastern region bidders on bidadoo equipment. bidadoo grew starting from the west coast of the United States. Over time, bidadoo's North American footprint has greatly increased — with a great build-up of sellers, bidders and buyers from the Midwest and East coast regions, Canada, Latin America and around the world. Daytime auctions are now much more convenient for these bidders.
  • 300 percent growth in the number of items selling over $100,000: 2018 vs. 2019 YTD. Sellers are seeing greater returns of more commercial grade equipment through bidadoo's auctions. This type of equipment attracts a more professional buyer, who often sources equipment during the day.

"Moving our auction to a daytime format is just the next evolution of supporting our global equipment buyers. Sixteen years ago, end-user buyers needed a computer to access and effectively participate in our online auctions. Now, most of our activity is from end-users and 61 percent of the participation in our auctions is through mobile devices (phones and tablets). Our bidders and buyers can participate anytime and from anywhere. With a focus on supporting true end-user buyers of equipment, we now better enable their participation via a format and time that supports their busy lives," said Howard Hawk, president of bidadoo.

bidadoo's sourcing of higher grade equipment from larger national account sellers also has been a factor in moving the auctions to a daytime format. Today, bidadoo works with many of the largest equipment owners in the world looking to sell larger fleets of quality equipment — such as late-model construction equipment, cranes and trucks.

"The buyer of a $130,000 wheel loader and $270,000 recent crane sale is a professional fleet buyer or equipment owner. Their buying decision is central to what they do to supply equipment to their fleet. This buyer is best supported with our daytime auctions and services. We have committed to setting the standard for the best buying experience for used equipment, trucks and capital assets, and will continue to innovate, and improve for our customers," said Hawk.
