Blanchard Machinery Company and Spectra Integrated Systems recently held a Demo Day showcasing the GPS capabilities of Spectra’s equipment on Caterpillar motorgraders, ARO dozers, 312 and 320 excavators and a 303C CR mini-excavator.
“We wanted to show not only the simplicity of the GPS system, but also how it would improve job performance. So we decided to build a working job site and have the machines working toward finishing a blueprint design,” explained Blanchard Machinery representative Rob Arthur.
“The site was set up to represent a real job to give the contractors a real world place to test the machinery. Blanchard Machinery along with Spectra I.S., the two sponsors of the event, had the latest Trimble GPS Systems mounted on different machines, including three sizes of Cat excavators, Cat dozers and a Cat motorgrader. Spectra I.S. brought along several different Trimble products to demonstrate,” he added.
The first demo day was used to train Blanchard’s sales team on the equipment and give them a chance to operate a Caterpillar machine with the newly installed automatic GPS systems. The second day of the demo was for the customers to get up close and personal on specific machines that fit their business needs.
“We showed how the Spectra system can improve productivity from the operator’s seat, improve job management from the foreman’s vehicle, and improve overall site management from the technology station, which helps to visualize the entire job. Our customers had the opportunity to visit several demo stations and maneuver each of the machines to give them an understanding of where we feel the business is starting to go and what technology is available,” Arthur said.
