Since the beginning of the year, Dynapac has delivered nearly 50 machines to customers in North and South Carolina alone.
“We’re building momentum quickly,” said John Van Ruitenbeek, vice president and COO of Briggs Construction Equipment, which now sells the full Dynapac line.
The idea of Briggs taking on Dynapac was first pitched a little more than a year ago. It wasn’t a decision that Van Ruitenbeek and the rest of the Briggs team took lightly. They insisted on doing research before agreeing to the deal.
Van Ruitenbeek said they contacted some Briggs customers who were using Dynapac machines and received plenty of positive feedback.
“The more we looked at the product, the more we liked it,” he said. “We were impressed with the breadth of the product line.”
Ric Perez, Dynapac compaction specialist, said the line includes light compaction equipment, including rammers, plates and trench rollers; rollers from the 1.5 ton double drum to the 20 ton vibratory; pneumatic tire rollers; and planers.
“They’re one of the few on a national level of the full line Dynapac dealers,” Perez said of Briggs.
And with the early demand, Briggs wants to ensure they will have enough machines in stock — Perez called the company’s order “sizable.” Van Ruitenbeek said he wanted to ensure the company would be able to demonstrate the machines out of its stock at all of the branch locations.
Officially, Briggs is the Dynapac dealer in North Carolina, all of Florida except the panhandle and coastal and southern South Carolina.
All of Briggs’ salespeople and technicians have gone through or are scheduled to go through training on the full line of machines.
Additionally, Perez said the Briggs staff has been trained on Dynapac parts and the Web-based parts entry system. Being able to order parts online 24-hours a day allows Briggs to find out what’s available immediately or to find out how long it will take to arrive at the branch. Dynapac ships its parts to all of North America from its parts depot in San Antonio, Texas.
“Briggs Equipment has experienced sales, service and parts personnel who will offer a high level of product support and warranty coverage,” said Bruce Truesdale, president of Dynapac North America, noting the company has increased its production capability at its Texas facility to support the market.
Van Ruitenbeek said one of the common comments from Briggs customers he spoke with was the high resale value of Dynapac machines.
“Our rollers last a long time,” Perez added. “That’s why they keep one of the highest resale values in the industry.”
