Case CE has partnered with the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology to launch training programs that are geared specifically towards the oil and natural gas industry. Groff Tractor was instrumental in helping Case CE work partner CPI. Case CE has been searching for a new regional training facility, and Groff Tractor felt CPI would be a perfect fit.
Groff Tractor suggested the CPI partnership in part due to the area's rich resource in natural gas. The region is booming with Marcellus shale and the need for heavy equipment technicians is on the rise. CPI will serve as Case CE's northeast region training facility.
The curriculum is a two year program, and students will graduate with an associate's degree in heavy equipment repair. The program will have a Case focus and students will be trained on Case equipment supplied by Case CE and Groff Tractor.
"Groff Tractor is looking forward to this program, we are excited to partner with CPI and provide them with equipment and technical support," said Greg Grimes, Groff Tractor's operations manager.
The new program will support 16 to 24 students each year. The Case equipment also will be used in conjunction with other school programs and assist in the education of nearly 400 students each year.
