Cashman Equipment dedicated a new Habitat for Humanity home in North Las Vegas Feb. 12.

In 2006, the company chose to sponsor a Habitat home in celebration of its 75 years of helping build Nevada. Cashman employees assisted the Habitat homeowner in framing a 1,247 sq. ft., three-bedroom home at 1941 Gregory Street.

Cashman Equipment’s cash contribution funded the construction of the house, while dozens of employees contributed manual labor alongside the Southern family.

“By providing the financial and physical support to build a Habitat home, we are doing something that will benefit a hard-working family and reflect our enduring commitment to the community,” said MaryKaye Cashman, chairman and CEO of Cashman Equipment.

The house is one of seven built on Gregory Street, located near the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Losee Road in the city’s fifth ward, on land donated to Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas by the City of Las Vegas. It is the 60th home built by Habitat in Las Vegas in the past 16 years.

The public/private partnership between the City and Habitat depends on the financial participation of private companies to help finance projects.

“The sponsorship by Cashman Equipment was a key component in finalizing the agreement with the city to commit the land to the project,” said Guy Amato, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas. “We’re very pleased to now see the positive impact of these combined efforts.”

Attendees of the dedication event included The Southern Family — New Habitat homeowners; MaryKaye Cashman, CEO and chairman of Cashman Equipment Company; Guy Amato, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas; and volunteers from Cashman Equipment and the community.
