Over the past few weeks Chile has been battling some of the worst wildfires in the country's history. According to Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, the fires have claimed the lives of at least 11 people and caused more than $300 million in damage. Although things are mostly under control, help is needed to repair and rebuild what was lost.

The U.S. government and private sector have answered the call for assistance with a monetary donation of $740,000 USD and supplies. Included in the list of items reported by the U.S. Embassy are firefighting equipment, U.S. Forest Service and USAID/OFDA wildfire technical experts, food and medical supplies, and light construction tools.

Any construction industry groups or companies looking to add to the relief efforts should contact CONAF (National Forestry Corporation) at consulta.oirs@conaf.cl.
