The University of Texas System now enjoys a new $16-million research facility at the University’s Health Science Center at San Antonio. Recently completed by Clark Contractors, the center supports biomedical research for the prevention and cure of disease.

Clark previously completed the Seay Biomedical Building on the campus of UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and will complete the interior build-out of three floors in that building under a separate contract. Based in Dallas, Clark Contractors is the Southwest regional office of The Clark Construction Group Inc.

Designed by Kell Munoz Wigodsky of San Antonio, the research facility includes a four-level laboratory building with library and a one-story common building that features a 200-seat telecommunications conference center. Both the laboratory and common building are adjacent to the Hayden Head Institute for Biology, forming a courtyard space to connect the buildings.

In addition to Clark and the architect, the project team includes Jaster-Quintanilla & Associates Inc. of San Antonio, structural engineer; HMG & Associates Inc., also of San Antonio, electrical engineer; and Earl Walls Associates of San Diego, laboratory consultant.

The Clark Construction Group Inc. is based in Bethesda, MD.
