BOLTON, Vt. (AP) The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation said it will improve a state forest access road in Camel's Humpy State Park with the help of state funding.
The road hosts a portion of the Catamount Trail and serves as a part of a popular hiking and skiing loop. The Times Argus reported the road was badly damaged by a series of storms and swelling from a tributary of the Winooski River.
Officials say the improvements will make the road more resilient to floods and reduce sediment flow into the nearby brook. The funding was provided by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Ecosystem Restoration Program. ERP grants support the design and construction of water pollution abatement programs.
