Coble Trench Safety shoring specialist Mike Kavanaugh was installing a pH balancing tank for O’Donnell Construction Co. The tank would keep the company’s products from entering the sanitary sewer without lowering the pH.
The jobsite had very limited space, with the tank requiring an excavation to a depth of 22 ft. (6.7 m) in a compacted clay soil. Additionally, the company’s plant was approximately 50 ft. (15 m) away. The job site space prevented the excavator from being able to get along all sides of the excavation to dig.
Kavanaugh met with the contractor to discuss the project and present Coble Trench Safety’s slide-rail system. O’Donnell had previously used a slide-rail system that left a bad impression but Kavanaugh explained the benefits of the SBH slide-rail system and how the system would make the installation easier and increase the time spent working on the project as opposed to worrying with the shoring system.
As the project neared, there was a rush to start and O’Donnell was impressed with Coble Trench Safety’s ability to mobilize and have the equipment on the job site ready to install. They also were impressed with the performance of the slide-rail system on this project. CEG
