Comet Breaker Benefits From Move to New Location

Earlier this year, Comet Breaker tripled its amount of building square footage when it moved from its Norcross, Ga., location to its new “free standing” facility, which includes five service bays in Lawrenceville, Ga. It also is taking full advantage of the three acres of mostly paved exterior area for machine drop off and pick-up.

“For most standard application attachments, machines can be off-loaded here, and we can have a Comet attachment installed in a matter of a couple hours. Check the flow meter, adjust the flow as needed for optimum performance and our customer is out the door,” said Comet’s technician, Jason Jung. “We have a highly skilled staff of technicians for hammer and attachment installation and repair and are in the position to employ additional staffing at this location as the economy grows,” he added.

The larger building allows Comet to stock a greater inventory of wear parts for its hammers, grapples, shears and couplers.

“Anything from cylinders and pistons to the nuts and bolts, we have them here, in stock, in Lawrenceville and can send to our dealers overnight. If by chance we don’t have a specific item, we can have it shipped very quickly from Korea,” said Jung.

All Comet products are delivered with a full one-year parts and service warranty on everything except for regular wear parts.

In addition to servicing its own line of Comet breakers and attachments, the company now performs work on other competing brands, from simple repairs to complete rebuilds. To make the sales process easier, Comet now accepts trades of other breakers toward new Comet breakers from this location.

“Now that we’ve achieved our goal of facility expansion, we’re now working toward adding Comet dealers and solidifying a comprehensive dealer network in the entire U.S. market place. We provide complete training for our dealers on the maintenance of our products,” said Jung.

Service after the sale and flexibility is the key to repeat business for Comet Breaker.

“Customers can send us their hammer or attachment for a major rebuild from anywhere in North America. If that’s not convenient for the customer, we can send a technician and the parts needed directly to their job site,” Jung said.

The company said that when a new hammer goes out, Comet representatives visit with the customer to train them on routine maintenance and minor repairs. If there is a Comet dealer in that area, they are trained to take care of any repairs as needed.

Comet has been manufacturing attachments for more than 10 years in Korea and is in its third year of sales and service in the U.S. market. The company manufactures and sells couplers, shears, crushers, pulverizers, compactors, and is mostly known for its hydraulic hammers, which range from 200 to 17,000 lbs. (91 to 7,711 kg).

Comet’s vice president, Ken Kim said, “Since coming to the U.S. market, we’ve found our products to be very competitive in both price and quality. With current economic conditions, we have the ability and flexibility in pricing to become the low cost provider for our high quality attachments and chisels. The economy may be slow, but our confidence is high for the U.S. market. We’re looking at bigger things for the future, including building a manufacturing plant in the Southeast U.S. probably sometime in the next two to three years. With our alliance with Sewoomic Breaker Tools, we have the ability to sell high quality hammer bits for other competing brands, at a lower cost, which includes pretty much all major brands sold in the U.S.

Comet Breaker is located at 489 Hurricane Shoals Rd., NE in Lawrenceville, Ga.
