Complete Hydraulic Service Grows Alongside Ohio CAT

In early May, Complete Hydraulic Service, a division of Ohio CAT, celebrated its 10th anniversary with an open house at its Bolivar, OH, facility. President of Ohio CAT, Ken E. Taylor, was present to commemorate the company’s milestone.

According to Taylor, Bolivar was chosen in 1994 for this division’s location because it was central to Ohio Machinery Co.’s market territory.

Taylor was appointed president in November 1994, when the company was known as Ohio Machinery Co. Both Complete Hydraulic Service and Ohio Machinery Co. have grown considerably, he said.

For instance, in 2003, Ohio Machinery Co. more than doubled its size and expanded its coverage across the state of Ohio when it acquired the assets of the Cat dealership in western Ohio. This event prompted the company’s name change to Ohio CAT.

Complete Hydraulic Service started with five original employees who provided hydraulic service and repair for earthmoving equipment. Since then, the company has expanded to include industrial hydraulic services and has grown to 35 employees working three shifts.

Complete Hydraulic Service currently operates as its own business, while handling Ohio CAT’s core hydraulic business operations. The division gives Ohio CAT the opportunity to specialize in hydraulics, which allows the company to serve existing clients as well as new customers. In turn, these new relationships develop into an increase in the company’s core Caterpillar business.

In addition to increasing sales, Complete Hydraulic Service also serves Ohio CAT’s 13 full service equipment locations in 89 counties throughout Ohio, northern Kentucky and eastern Indiana. The company also extends its services by catering to more than just these three areas. It has drawn industrial business from as far east as Connecticut and as far west as Chicago.

Taylor credits Complete Hydraulic Service’s growth over the past five years to the employees, who are dedicated to upholding their respective roles with the company, and to effective divisional leadership.

According to Taylor, customers appreciate Ohio CAT’s dedication to overnight delivery through the company’s internal shuttle system. Complete Hydraulic Service also provides free pick-up, delivery, disassembly, inspection and quotes for all hydraulic pumps, motors, valves and cylinders.

All hydraulic components are remanufactured using Original Component Manufacturer (OCM) or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts and are tested to ensure that each unit meets original factory specifications. Also, new and exchange units are available for many makes and models of mobile and earthmoving equipment.

Some features in Complete Hydraulic Service’s in-house machine shop include a lapping machine, lathes, boring mills, testing units, overhead cranes and welding equipment.

In the long run, these features help customers save money because Complete Hydraulic Service restores and remanufactures salvageable used parts, rather than replacing them with new units.
