South Carolina contractors, particularly in the demolition and scrap processing industries, are enjoying access to the new Company Wrench facility based in Lexington, S.C. The company moved from its facility in Aiken, S.C., as part of an effort to expand its reach in the area. This expansion and success continues under the direction of Brad Hutchison, owner of Company Wrench.
“Brad started in this industry as a contractor,” said Dick Mizzell, southeast regional sales manager of Company Wrench, South Carolina. “In Ohio he had a truck repair and towing business, among other businesses, when LaBounty contacted him through another relationship to do some service work up in Ohio. It took off from there as a service support provider on a project to eventually becoming a dealership, and now we are LaBounty’s largest dealer.”
The new branch, located at I-20 and U.S. 1 in Lexington, S.C., will provide the company’s customers an 8,000 sq. ft. (743 sq m) parts warehouse and 14 service bays.
“The move to a central location in South Carolina will offer customers access to a large facility for our specialized rental fleet, plus available inventory for existing and new Kobelco users. This is our southeast region hub, which includes a shop, warehouse and parts and machine availability. It’s a full service shop with our traditional repair and maintenance facility for our fleet of new and used equipment,” said Mizzell.
Equipment available for customers at the new location includes offerings from Kobelco in addition to the Terex Fuchs and LaBounty product lines, and the branch will be fully equipped to service all machines regardless of size.
“We service everything from the high reach machines for demolition and to the large LaBounty shears for the large scrap processing machines, said Mizzell. This also includes heavy demolition tools, large hydraulic hammers, sheet piling machines, long reach and other specialized products that we offer as Company Wrench. This is a hub location for the southeast, so the other branches have products on the ground, but the larger pieces will come in and out of this location for service and distribution.
“The 100,000-pound class excavator and tools are kind of our bread and butter, our sweet spot as a company. We stock up to the Kobelco SK850LC excavator in our rental fleet with a complement of tools and attachments. We feel like this sets us apart from our competitors.
In addition to typical service needs, Company Wrench also is prepared to enhance the machines with attachments and auxiliary hydraulics.
“We’ve got the machines equipped with any tool, be it grapples, hammers, shears, pile drivers and processors. The high reach machines would be three piece high reach, two piece high reach anywhere from 50-foot high reach machines, up to 95-foot high reach three piece class machines for high reach demolition.”
Company Wrench also offers our dust suppression product, which was developed and patented by Hutchison.
“It’s a direct diesel drive unit we use on a lot of different projects, but it was initially designed around the demolition industry for dust control. We use them now in a lot of applications, not just dust control. We have discovered different markets that have found a need for the product . That’s a product we would stock, rent and sell from this location. We also have other dust suppression units such as water trucks.
The new Lexington, S.C., branch is one of two Company Wrench current locations in the Carolinas, with the other located in Smithfield, N.C., for the Raleigh market.
Company Wrench is planning to hold an open house event at the new facility on June 26. According to Mizzell, the event will offer an outstanding opportunity for area contractors to see the company’s product lineup, meet with the Company Wrench team and factory representatives and enjoy some breakfast and barbecue lunch. The open house also will feature an auction benefitting the Wounded Warrior project.
