Scholpp Kran und Transport GmbH received its second Demag AC 220-5 all terrain crane in the span of a year. Authorized signatory Stephan Burkhardt, head of operations and Stuttgart regional manager, said: “The first AC 220-5 won us over with its reliability. There were no breakdowns or malfunctions whatsoever, and the crane's boom length is something to behold, so deciding on another unit of the same model was pretty straightforward.”
The company attaches enormous importance to safety, which is why the IC-1 Plus control system was especially important in its decision. Burkhardt praised the lifting capacity radar as being one of a kind, and explained that it was an important factor in the new purchase.
Just like the AC 220-5 the company bought last year, this new Demag crane will be used at the BASF plant in Ludwigshafen.
“Having two AC 220-5 cranes will enable us to be more flexible when we need to temporarily remove one of them from service, etc. And in the tight space conditions at the site, the IC-1 Plus control system and its ease of use have proven to be invaluable, so we hope that we'll be able to do our work even more efficiently.”
In conclusion, Stephan Burkhardt reported that Scholpp Kran und Transport GmbH's fleet will be growing with the addition of two more Demag cranes at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019. More specifically, orders have already been placed for an AC 300-6 and an AC 700-9.
“We're really happy to see the Demag brand come back. It's a storied brand with a lot going for it, and that was a big factor in our decision to keep buying more Demag products.”
