Dennis E. Bennett, age 69, a resident of Plainfield, IL since 1977, passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2015. He was born October 1, 1946 in Rockford, IL.

Denny is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan; his devoted daughter, Angela (David) LoConte of Plainfield, IL; his cherished grandchildren, Mada- lynn and Bennett LoConte; his dear father, Robert E. Bennett of Leaf River, IL; his sisters, Joy (Jon) Wirth of Freeport, IL and Carla (Bradley) Miller of Leaf River, IL; his sisters-in-law, Jean (John) Mrowiec of Winnebago, IL and Jeanette Conkey of Wausaukee, WI; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis James “Jaime” Bennett; his mother, Doris C. Bennett; his parents-in-law, James and Irene Patterson; and his brother-in-law, James (Vicki) Patterson.

A proud American, Denny served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was currently a Fields Sales/Rental Representative with Illinois Truck & Equipment Co., Inc. in Morris, IL, a job he enjoyed for the last 15 years. He enjoyed a lifelong career in the excavating, heavy equipment and construction industries. Denny was a member of the American Legion, the Plainfield Masonic Lodge, Society of King Solomon, the National Eagle Scout Association and the Plainfield United Methodist Church. A 35 year volunteer fireman and engineer with the Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department, Denny also served as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees of the Plainfield Fire Protection District for 8 years.

A real people person, Denny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling for pleasure, and restoring Farmall Tractors. More than anything else, Denny loved cheering on Madi and Ben at their many sporting events. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral Information:Thursday, Nov. 19th Visitation: 4:00 PM dismissal if attending visitation.

4:00-8:00 PM at the Plainfield Fire Protection District Headquarters, 23748 West 135th Street, Plainfield, IL 60544.

Friday, Nov. 20th Funeral Services: Everyone is welcome to attend. 10:00 AM at the Plainfield Fire Protection District Headquarters with Pastor Chris Walters officiating.

Saturday, Nov. 21st Interment: Transportation will be provided if requested. Please contact D.Welter to coordinate. Interment will take place at the Lightsville Cemetery in Leaf River, IL. Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Plainfield, entrusted with arrangements.
