Construction Equipment Guide

Dewalt’s 40-lb. demolition hammer (D25960K) has been designed to offer contractors elite performance, comfort, durability and ease of use. The D25960K is ideal for a variety of professionals including electricians, waterproofers, and mechanical, concrete, demolition and general contractors.

“Our new demolition hammer combines the power that contractors need for heavy-duty applications with a lightweight design,” said Dewalt product manager Jeff Beck. “We believe the D25960K exceeds contractors’ expectations specific to performance, comfort and portability. Through the implementation of specific innovative features, the D25960K is sure to be a leader in this market.”

Contributing to the comfort and control contractors can expect when using the new Dewalt demolition hammer, the D25960K features shocks — active vibration control, a soft start control and a large rocker switch. The two-piece shocks — active vibration control system includes a counter balance mechanism and shock mounted floating handle that helps to dampen vibration levels. Due to this innovative feature, the D25960K boasts a 6.8 m/s² vibration level.

The soft start feature that is incorporated as part of the D25960K aids in the prevention of bit walking. An electronics package also eliminates the high current spike on start-up, which therefore provides consistent power under load.

A large rocker switch allows for the tool to be turned on and off easily without contractors needing to hold the power switch down when the tool is in use.

Although the new demolition hammer touts a low vibration level, it offers the power contractors demand with a 15 amp motor that delivers 1,460 beats per minute. This combination of impact energy and beats per minute provides the user with the fast and powerful destruction needed for difficult applications, according to the manufacturer.

Aiding in durability, the product includes an easily replaceable cord set and removable tool holder. For convenience, the D25960K includes a kit box that is equipped with heavy-duty wheels for easy transportation, durable metal latches and a bit storage area.

The 40-lb. demolition hammer, which accepts both collared and non-collared 1-1/8-in. (2.8 cm) HEX bits, will be available at construction distribution centers in September 2011. The product is expected to retail for approximately $1,079. All shocks — active vibration control hammers also come with a premium two-year free service warranty, in addition to the standard three-year limited warranty and 90-day money-back guarantee.
