Ditch Witch Tool Strikes Gold for Contractors

Wed April 18, 2001 - Northeast Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

The new Ditch Witch fluted cone backreamer is a versatile downhole tool for enlarging diameters of pilot holes made with horizontal directional drilling equipment.

Tool design provides the option of a fluted-style backreamer in larger-diameter sizes and is a good all-purpose backreamer for working in most types of subsurface conditions, including sand and light soils, clay, and some types of rock.

Modern casting technology produces products that are strong, durable, and lighter in weight and less costly than solid steel.

The tool has a built-in swivel connection, and carbide-faced shark tooth cutters for maximum productivity and durability. Fluid ports are positioned for efficient fluid mixing and for lubrication of hole, tool, and the product being installed.

These versatile downhole tools are available in 2-in. (5 cm) increments in diameters from 8 to 26 in. (20 to 66 cm) for use on the new Ditch Witch JT2720 Mach 1 and JT4020 Mach 1 models, on Ditch Witch drilling units ranging from the JT920 to JT4020, and on competitive units of comparable sizes. The tools complement the line of Ditch Witch GP (general purpose) backreamers.

Fluted cone backreamers are part of a complete line of downhole tool products designed and produced by the manufacturer of Ditch Witch directional drilling systems.
