Doosan hosted a customer appreciation event in Michigan capped by a trip to Michigan International Speedway for a NASCAR series race Aug. 18 and 19. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and the race was rained out. The foul weather did little to dampen the spirits of those attending and a fun time was had by all.
The weekend turned into a traveling party with festivities moving by bus from the Metropolitan Hotel in Detroit to the track near Jackson, Mich.
Attendees convened at the track for a hospitality event at the Chalet Village where food and beverages were provided. While the guests waited for word on a break in the weather, they were entertained by Larry Camp, NASCAR events coordinator and Joe Gibbs Racing Team spokesman, and by Stan Creekmore, NASCAR sports writer. Both shared stories of the travels and travails of NASCAR drivers and also talked a little bit about racing.
The crowd favorite, however, was none other than Tony Stewart, who stopped by to share stories about racing and to sign autographs. After Stewart headed back to await word on the race, a drawing was held to award prizes. Eventually the race was called for the day and arrangements were made to get everyone back to the hotel.
