One of the more difficult decisions in life concerns retirement. After 23 years of employment, Elmer Dyer, of Pine Bush Equipment, decided to take his leave and retired on June 28.

He began working for Pine Bush Equipment on June 29, 1979 as comptroller and departed as chief financial officer (CFO), a position he held for eight years. Prior to Pine Bush, Dyer had worked for Farm Credit and as a certified public accountant.

Jim Boniface, vice president and sales manager of Pine Bush said, “I hope that Elmer would really enjoy his reprieve from Pine Bush Equipment, and hopefully not find his golf game any more stressful than what his work at Pine Bush has been. Elmer has been like a captain at the helm of a ship for Pine Bush Equipment. He has steered the company several times through troubled waters. In the end, his good advice and guidance led to continued growth for Pine Bush.” Pine Bush sales have grown 20 times since Dyer joined the company.

“I am proud of the growth that the company has experienced during the course of my tenure. I believe the Pine Bush will continue to grow. In fact, Pine Bush is currently breaking ground on a new facility in Carmel, NY, which is in Putnam County,” commented Dyer.

Donna Boniface, corporate vice president and customer service manager, said Dyer will be “dearly missed.” She had worked with him for 23 years and found him to be a pleasant, cooperative co-worker. “He has taken us from a little family business and grown us to a rather substantially-sized corporation. He has been a great teacher. Elmer’s banking and financial expertise has put Pine Bush Equipment where we are today.”

In addition to his accomplishments at Pine Bush, Dyer is particularly proud of the work he has done with Associated Equipment Distributors (AED). He worked closely with the AED Foundation since its inception.

In his retirement, Dyer’s plans include relaxation and traveling with his wife, Magda, who also has retired.

Jim Santangelo has succeeded Dyer as the new CFO of Pine Bush.
