It will soon be official. Edward Ehrbar Inc. is getting ready to open the doors of its new Danbury, Conn., facility.
“We anticipate an early 2007 opening with a grand opening to be held in the spring,” said Pat Ahern, president of Edward Ehrbar.
“We’re excited about this new branch because we will be better equipped to serve the Fairfield County market, as well as New York’s Hudson Valley region. We’ve increased our capacity by 30 percent to give better coverage for customers in the northern end of our territory.”
Strategically located off Interstate 84 from exits 2 or 3 in Connecticut, the new branch will service customers in Fairfield County as well as in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties in New York.
The new 25,000-sq.-ft. building sits on 4 acres and includes a service department that features a seven-bay shop, two 5-ton (4.5 t) overhead cranes, the latest ecologically sensitive cleaning facilities and a wastewater recovery system. The service department will include six inside mechanics and several in the field. These experienced service technicians will be able to work on any brand of equipment.
The new branch also accommodates a training facility, offices, and a parts department with large tool and merchandise area, as well as a large outdoor storage area for rental equipment.
Parts Available Now
Until the new building is completely ready, customers can come to the warehouse for parts, which is located next to the new location. The warehouse, measuring 8,000 sq. ft., serves as a temporary parts department. Headed by John Barbuto, parts manager, department personnel are making sure that Ehrbar customers receive the best possible service without interruption. In addition, the company has available complete hydraulic hose make up.
“Every week we have meetings to make sure we have the parts our customers need when they need them,” said Barbuto, who has been with Ehrbar for 10 years.
The new parts department will include approximately 10,000 sq. ft. of retail space that will carry more than just machine parts, according to Bob Murphy, inventory control manager, who has been with the company for 54 years.
“We’ll also have contractor supplies and hand tools,” he said.
Doug Noe, and 11-year employee with Ehrbar, will man the parts counter in the new store with Jim Vilardi, lead partsman, who is a veteran with the company.
In addition, three sales representatives will call on heavy-equipment users in the area.
Designed for Customers
The design of the new building focuses on the customer with separate entrances to the parts, sales and rentals and service departments, said Matt Ahern, executive vice president of Ehrbar.
“That way, customers can get to the department they need right away,” said Matt.
In addition, to accommodate customer demand, the rental fleet at the Danbury location will be extensive, according to Pat.
“We’ll have a huge inventory available for customers, including a full line of Komatsu excavators from the 1-ton PC09 to the 65-ton PC600; wheel loaders from the compact one-yard machine, all the way up to the eight-yard WA500; and dozers from the 45-horsepower D21 to the 340-horsepower D85. We’ll also carry the full line of Ingersoll Rand compactors — soil compactors and double-drum vibratory asphalt rollers.”
Equipment available from the rental fleet also will include Metso Nordberg screen boxes, as well as a full line of attachments from Esco, breakers from NPK and LaBounty demolition tools.
Ehrbar employees and customers alike have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the new branch, according to Pat.
“With our new location, we believe we can provide customers in our area with much better, much quicker response time in the field for rentals and for service,” he said.
“We’ve made a big investment in the business for our customers and we look forward to serving them more efficiently.”
