Erb Equipment Co., has started work on a new location at 315 Worthington Road, Owensboro, Ky., — one that the owners said was necessary to accommodate the company’s growth.

The groundbreaking took place on Oct. 17 for the 16,800 sq. ft. building, which will be situated on seven acres.

Erb Equipment went through a contested and lengthy process before getting the new site rezoned from urban agriculture to light industrial, which is at Worthington Road’s intersecting with U.S. 69 West.

In 2009, the company bought K&W Equipment at 2133 E. Fourth St. At the time the company knew it would have to have a bigger facility with more ground and more modern equipment.

“We had a hard time getting suitable ground that would provide us with accessibility, visibility and a minimum of seven acres,” said Gregg Erb, president.

Erb Equipment company is a 71-year-old family-owned John Deere construction equipment business headquartered in Fenton, Mo.

Erb sells, services and rents construction and forestry equipment and has four locations in Missouri, one in Illinois, two in Kentucky and one in Indiana.
