Exhibitors Make Tracks for Philly Expo

Construction Equipment Guide

That ticking sound you’re hearing is the time running out on your opportunity to be a part of Construction Equipment Guide’s Philadelphia Construction Expo, otherwise known as “The Greatest Show in Dirt,” which will be held at the Fort Washington Expo Center on March 11 and 12, 2003. But don’t worry, there still is time to make your preparations, just as 74 dealers and manufacturers already have done.

One of those companies, Plasterer Equipment, based in Lebanon, PA, has exhibited at the “The Greatest Show in Dirt” since its inception in 1998 and will be doing so again.

“It is certainly a plus for us being there and showing off our products,” said Jim Landis, vice president of Plasterer. “It’s a very good facility [Fort Washington Expo Center] with ample room. It’s a chance for us to get good exposure, especially this year because we will have a lot of new John Deere products to exhibit.”

A first-time exhibitor, Gap Power Rentals Plus, headquartered in Gap, PA, plans to tout several of its specialty concrete machines

“We’re a construction rental and equipment distribution store wrapped up in one,” began Willy Stoltzfus, owner of Gap Power Rentals. “We cover small to medium products from hand tools like Dewalt, up through Whiteman concrete equipment. And now we’re expanding into concrete supply.

“The Philadelphia Construction Expo is a way for us to reach out of our little hamlet in Gap, PA. Our customers are primarily small contractors — the owner/operator, if you will — and our focus is to help that type of contractor do well and compete against larger ones. This show can help us do that,” Stoltzfus concluded.

And to continue helping our exhibitors get the most out of CEG Productions’ trade shows, we’ve brought in an industry veteran — a heavy hitter, you might say.

Rick Hutchinson, who worked 30 years with the Vilsmeier Auction Company, with 18 years of that as president of the company, has joined the CEG team to help us promote future trade shows.

“He did a spectacular job at Vilsmeier,” said Ed McKeon Sr., founder of CEG Productions. “He trained a lot of people [at Vilsmeier] who are now working for other companies and who are very successful. The Vilsmeier Auction Company never compromised its integrity and as a result, Rick has a tremendous following and respect in the industry. He’ll be a valuable asset to us by assisting with the selling of exhibit areas. And once the exhibit areas are sold out, he will concentrate on setting the show up, making sure all customers are satisfied.”

Just as excited as we are about Hutchinson coming aboard, so is he about joining our team.

“I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of my past customers at Vilsmeier and to develop new customers,” he said. “I’ve always admired Construction Equipment Guide and I’ve been reading it religiously for years. It’s a very professional organization, one that I’m proud to be a part of.”

Specifically, Hutchinson’s responsibilities will cover four areas for CEG Productions:

1) To promote existing scheduled shows by selling and promoting exhibit space,

2) To research and develop new shows in new areas with new customers,

3) To promote shows within the industry, and

4) To work hand-in-hand with exhibitors and the show facilities in setting up and closing out shows.

Rick Hutchinson and the rest of the team at CEG and CEG Productions are looking forward to seeing you on the floor at the Fort Washington Expo on March 11 and 12. So remember, if you’re a manufacturer or distributor on the East Coast, don’t miss out on the chance to strut your stuff to thousands of potential customers.
