Construction Equipment Guide

The Extec X44 SBS cone crusher’s design and capacity have been specifically adapted to the markets real requirements, and to fully complement, and strengthen, Extec’s existing crusher portfolio, the company said.

New features of the crusher design include the diesel hydraulic drive Cat C-13 diesel engine and variable speed, high torque for controlled continuous feed.

The X44 SBS also has a feed hopper, mounted on hydraulically controlled slew ring, which decreases down time after metal detection in in-feed material and a hydraulic closed side setting adjustment.

The cone unit itself is a Telesmith 44SBS complete with a hydraulic closed side setting adjustment, which allows the X44 SBS unit to be set to produce a range of products from .39 to 1.7 in. (10 to 45 mm). The X44 SBS possesses a throughput dependent on whether the unit is used in a closed or open circuit set up. A rate of 451.9 ton (410 t) per hour can be achieved with the coarsest setting in an open circuit.

The hydraulic closed side setting adjustment has been developed to enable crusher setting changes to be made quickly and easily, according to the manufacturer. The adjustment is activated through the control box, making this system suitable for applications where regular cone setting adjustments are required.

The X44 SBS uses a Cat C-13 diesel engine to provide the power for the hydraulic power pack, and to generate electricity for the electrical systems of the machine. The tracks, feeder, cone, conveyors and all other working parts of the machine are hydraulically driven.

The X44 SBS, includes a metal detector as standard and if any metal is detected in the feed material the belt swivels through 30 degree and discharges a half conveyor load to the side of the machine. This stops any scrap or other metal objects falling into the crusher and damaging it.

Other features available on the X44 SBS include a heavy duty Hardox steel hopper liners for prolonged active life; recirculating screen box for a guaranteed finished top size; and an optional bogie for quick and easy transportation in between job sites.

The X44 SBS possesses an intelligent control system. This allows Extec machines to communicate with each other during the same operation: so if an Extec C-12+ jaw crusher is feeding the X44 SBS, and there is a blockage in either machine, it will stop.
