Launched in 2012, Fluor's $100,000 Global Community Project Fund enables employees around the world to nominate local charitable organizations to receive funding for community improvement projects. Ten employee?led projects are chosen via a public, online vote to encourage community engagement. Selected projects receive $10,000 in funding, as well as employee volunteers to support the projects.

Fluor's Global Community Project Fund was recognized by the International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA) with its 2017 Corporate Social Responsibility Award sponsored by Total. Fluor received the award at the IPLOCA Convention in Mexico City, Mexico recently.

“Fluor strives to make a sustainable impact in the communities in which our employees live and work,” said Torrence Robinson, senior director of Global Community Affairs and president of the Fluor Foundation. “The Global Community Project Fund places employees at the forefront of our corporate social responsibility efforts. We are honored that IPLOCA has recognized our efforts to help make our communities a better place by addressing critical basic human needs.”

In 2016, nearly 800,000 votes were cast for the 10 winning projects, which spanned the globe from Peru to the Philippines. More than 500 employees volunteered more than 2,800 hours to bring the 10 projects to fruition, with one project being selected as Best-in-Class and receiving an additional $10,000 in funding. It is estimated that the 10 projects in 2016 will result in more than 200,000 lives positively impacted within one year of project completion.

The IPLOCA Corporate Social Responsibility Award sponsored by Total recognizes exemplary success in voluntarily improving the quality of life of the people impacted by pipeline industry work. Nominations are judged on company commitment to ethical behavior, contributions to economic development, management commitment, project funding and monitoring of outcomes and effectiveness.
