Foley Inc. held a paving products rodeo on June 12. The event took place at the Operating Engineers Local 825 facility located at 338 Deans Rhode Hall Road in South Brunswick, N.J.

Paving specialists showcased Caterpillar’s newest models such as the AP-1055D asphalt paver, CB564D asphalt compactor, AP655D asphalt paver and CB534D XW asphalt compactor.

Terry Humphreys, training manager of Caterpillar Paving, led the presentation.

Humphreys explained that the AP-1055D asphalt paver could be used everywhere from parking lots to airport projects to interstates. The AP-1055D also has a 30 percent increase in power over the B Series. Equipped with the AS2301 screed, the AP-1055D adapts to variable width paving while having the rigidity to pave highway projects with tough smoothness specifications.

The CB564D is the newest addition to the Cat High Production Asphalt Compactor line. Paving specialists demonstrated how asphalt compactor could be used at high frequency when working behind a paver laying a thin mat and operating at a high-working speed.

Humphreys then discussed how the AP655D was “...big enough with 174 horsepower to do highway work and compact enough to easily transport.” He added that the AP655D is a world-class paver with sound suppression that meets noise level requirements anywhere in the world.

The CG534D XW asphalt compactor was the last model featured at Foley Inc.’s paving product rodeo. Humphreys said that this compactor has three vibratory system choices, which “gives you that many choices so you can match applications and crew preference.”

In addition, the CB534D XW gives contractors consistent impact spacing and opportunity to stay in the same temperature zone behind the paver, Humphreys added.

Foley Inc. called on Walt Suk, paving specialist of Foley Inc.; Matt Campisi, Cat paving technician; and Joe Imbimbo, machinery demonstrator of Foley Inc., to run the machines at the paving products rodeo.

Also, Foley Inc. treated attendees to dinner before the demonstration. Customers were then able to climb on and look at Foley Inc.’s equipment.

Throughout the paving products rodeo, specialists were on hand to answer questions.
