Caterpillar Emissions Solutions (CES) recently recognized Foley Inc. in Piscataway, N.J., for outstanding performance in the retrofit market. Mike Kubas, VP Foley Power Systems, accepted the plaque for the team.

Over the last three years Foley has been number No.1 in Cat DPF unit and dollar sales for on-road retrofits. Overall installations included more than 2,400 closed crankcase ventilation systems, nine SCR systems for stationary generators, several flow through filters on industrial applications, and more than 525 DPFs on school buses, refuse trucks, and off road equipment.

Foley earned most of these sales through the New Jersey Diesel Emissions Reduction Program that the Department of Environmental Protection implemented demanding requirements for the program including aggressive price controls, application details, and warranty requirements. It encourages early implementation, and demonstrated this direction when it enforced the California tagging procedures before California.

Jeff Jacobs, CES emissions territory manager, commented, “From day one, Foley was engaged with the New Jersey DEP plan and it quickly made organizational changes and set goals to meet future opportunities.”

Foley met the challenges and earned one of the few authorized installer positions in January 2008. This accomplishment not only paved the way for the initial mandatory retrofit program, it also opened the door for off road retrofits after the state adopted the approved vendor list for its voluntary retrofit program, according to the company.

Working in parallel with this effort, Jon Souliere, general service manager of the construction division, has been leading a multi-million dollar effort to acquire off road retrofit funding through the Nation Clean Diesel Campaign. Mike Kubas, with support from Susan Connolly, executive VP and COO, launched the organizational effort three years ago by hiring Aaron Israel to serve as emissions specialist.

Another chapter in Foley’s retrofit positioning was revealed in March when it promoted John Goleskie to a new position of Emissions Retrofit & Government Sales manager.
