Laurence “Larry” J. Silvi Sr. a life-long resident of Falls Township, PA, passed away on Aug. 27, 2005, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born April 2, 1925 and raised in Tullytown, PA, Silvi was the son of Giovanni and Alba Silvi and brother to Lucy Campanaro and John Silvi, all deceased.
He graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1943 and enrolled in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving as a radio transcriber in Manila, Philippines.
After a three-year tour of duty, Silvi returned to his hometown to earn a living as a self-employed concrete blockmaker and over the course of 40 years, transformed his blockmaking operations into a multi-faceted ready-mix concrete enterprise, Silvi Concrete Products Inc.
Silvi was Chairman Emeritus of the company that became a dominant player in the southeast Pennsylvania and central New Jersey, construction material supply markets. The company remains a family-owned and operated enterprise.
Silvi was a member of the Navy League and a founding member of the Bradford County Hunting Club.
He was an avid deep sea fisherman, a spirited game hunter, and an enthusiastic world traveler.
Silvi is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosalie Marrazzo Silvi of Morrisville, PA; daughter, Debra Silvi of Washington, D.C.; and sons and daughters-in-law John and Joy Silvi of Newtown, PA; Laurence II and Mary Jo Silvi of Langhorne, PA; Gary and Monique Silvi of Villanova, PA; and 10 grandchildren, Kristen, Dina, Lauren, Bridget, Jenna, Laurence III, Jacqueline, Ginanna, Reagan and Callan.
Viewing was at the Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA. Aug. 30. Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Sacred Heart Church, 343 S. Broad St., Trenton, NJ. Interment was in Morrisville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the Silvi family requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to the Laurence J. Silvi Sr. Memorial. Indicate that a notation of donation be sent to Rosalie Silvi.
