Gehl Company has added the all-new 5240E skid loader and incorporated a new, more compact chassis on the model 4640E skid loader. While the 5240E boasts lift heights up to 122 in. (310 cm), the 4640E is practical on small, cramped job sites with its new, compact chassis. Both models feature a powerful 62-hp (46 kW) Tier III turbo-diesel engine and smooth operating hydraulics.

The 5240E can lift up to 120 in. (305 cm) with the standard 10.00 tires and 122 in. (310 cm) with the optional 12.00 tires.

Without the bucket, the redesigned 4640E and the new 5240E have overall machine widths of only 59.7 in. (151 cm), utilizing the new offset-tire option. This narrow width can allow operation on 5-ft. (1.5 m) sidewalks and access through narrow doors and gates. Even though these machines may be more compact, they still provide all the power and performance necessary to complete assigned tasks, according to the manufacturer.

The new 5240E and the redesigned 4640E are powered by a 4-cylinder, 62-hp (46 kW) Deutz TD2009 Series turbo-diesel engine. This engine is Tier III certified to meet current U.S. EPA emissions standards. The water-cooled design offers smooth, quiet operation.

A new high-capacity combination radiator and oil cooler on the 5240E and 4640E skid loaders provide for optimum cooling. The re-designed rear door is larger, to accommodate the high-capacity radiator and oil cooler. In addition, a remote engine oil filter is standard on both models for ease of service.

The new 5240E and the improved 4640E skid loaders feature smooth hydraulics with auxiliary hydraulic flow up to 30 gpm (114 Lpm) (with high-flow option). A new high-flow option with “soft-start” and detent features is controlled by an easy-to-access on/off switch on the instrument panel.

As with other Gehl skid loaders, these new loaders feature the Hydraloc automatic interlock system, which increases operator safety by locking lift, tilt and drive systems when the operator leaves the seat, raises the restraint bar or turns off the ignition switch.
