Gehl to Continue Sponsoring Toyota Grand Prix in Calif.

The company’s equipment will transform the streets of Long Beach into a nearly two mile street circuit where speeds can exceed 100 m.p.h.

Manitou Americas Inc., based in West Bend, Wisc., a leader in designing and manufacturing compact equipment under the Gehl, Manitou and Mustang brands for construction and agricultural markets, will be the “Official Construction Equipment” sponsor for the 21st straight year at the April 19 to 21, 2013, Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Calif.

Grand Prix race course construction crews will use Gehl equipment to help move and position the 1,800 concrete dividers necessary to build the 1.97-mi. street circuit. During race weekend, Gehl equipment will be involved in removing any crashed or disabled cars from the race circuit.

The Gehl brand has been in existence for more than 154 years and is distributed world-wide. The Gehl brand includes skid loaders, telescopic handlers, articulated loaders, compact excavators, compact track loaders and asphalt pavers.

“We’re excited to continue our long-standing relationship with America’s favorite street race,” said Lori Heidecker, director of marketing, “and proud that our equipment is used not only in building the race course on the streets of Long Beach, but is also helping to ensure safe, smooth-flowing racing all weekend long.”
