Godwin Pumps, the New Jersey-based manufacturer of portable rental pumps, has expanded its team at its local rental office at 3007 N. 50th St. in Tampa, FL.

In sales, Kevin Abernathy, of Lakeland, FL, joins Godwin as a sales engineer with 11 years of experience in the rental industry.

John Gerelli comes to the Tampa branch as service manager. Gerelli relocated from Godwin’s Bridgeport, NJ, home office where he began his career with the company in the service department approximately 15 years ago.

Working with Gerelli is Jack Behring, who recently joined Godwin’s Tampa branch as a mechanic.

Jed Church, operations manager, relocated to the Tampa branch from Godwin Pumps’ Connecticut rental office where he joined Godwin approximately five years ago as a dispatcher.

“With the purchase of this facility seven months ago, our long awaited expansion into Florida came to fruition,” said Godwin Pumps President John Michael Paz. “As anticipated, the Florida market is fast becoming one of our major divisions as we move our domestic growth forward.”

Plans for new construction on the site include adding 8,000 sq. ft. (743 sq m) to the existing 10,000 sq. ft. (929 sq m) now used for parts inventory and office space.

The expansion is scheduled to begin mid-spring.

Located on more than 4 acres (1.6 ha), the new Godwin Pumps rental facility includes an equipment yard, service shop, parts center and offices for 30 employees serving south Florida. The company provides rental, sales and service of automatic self-priming Dri-Prime pumps for any type and size pumping application, including wellpoint dewatering systems.

Godwin Pumps personnel are available around the clock to address all pumping and related equipment needs.

“We provide emergency pump rentals, service and repairs, technical support, engineering design and application assistance,” said Southeast Manager Bud Nichols, who has more than 14 years of experience in the pump rental industry specializing in rental, sales and service of portable and permanent pumping systems.

In addition to a fleet of more than 5,000 pumps, Godwin Pumps offers all the accessories, including pipe to 30 in., hose and fittings. Also available for rent are a new line of Godwin Hush-Power generators and Godwin Lights light towers.

“Over the years, customers have come to rely on us for more than pumps,” said Paz. “Customers come to us for our years of bypass pumping knowledge as well as for repairs and replacement parts required to keep their pumps and related equipment on the job.”
