Godwin Pumps Mourns Loss of Joseph L. Abbott Jr.

Joseph L. Abbott Jr., national sales manager of Godwin Pumps, passed away Sept. 12.

Joining the Godwin Pumps team in 1989, Mr. Abbott brought sales and manufacturing expertise to the company from the sewer rehabilitation industry.

In the ensuing 20 years, Mr. Abbott was the primary sales contact with consulting engineers, working on hundreds of large and small bypass operations – from 100,000 GPM to 300 MGD – pumping process sewers as well as municipal treatment plants, pump stations and sewer systems. In addition, Mr. Abbott helped build Godwin’s distribution network throughout the United States and Canada, managed product pricing and oversaw bids. Mr. Abbott also had many speaking engagements at trade functions throughout North America.

A Radnor, Pa., resident, Mr. Abbott received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, Pa. He served as a member of NASSCO for more than 20 years, also as a director. He also was a member of the American Rental Association, the National Mining Association, the North American Society of Trenchless Technology, the Water Environment Federation and the National Utilities Contractors Association.

Mr. Abbott is survived by his wife, Stephanie Rair Abbott, and their three children, Molly, J.J. and Megan. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Abbott Sr., brother of Eva (Van), Lou (Paola), Theresa, Andy (Mary) and Bill (Kathy); also survived by 14 nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Life Center of Eastern Delaware County- Meal Program, 6310 Market St., Upper Darby, PA 19082 in memory of Joe Abbott.
