GOMACO has created the largest spread of concrete slipform paving equipment at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014. They had 13 machines in their largest display ever, including the next generation GHP-2800 slipform paver and next generation Commander III.

According to the Company, G+ on GOMACO’s full line of concrete paving equipment means unparalleled accuracy, performance and precision set up. G+ has also brought about many innovations to the GOMACO line, including telematics, an on-board camera, power-optimized cooling and engine packages, and so much more. The optional on-board camera is a new device to monitor designated areas of the slipforming process. The camera can be positioned anywhere around the GOMACO paver and feeds live video to the G+ display on the console. G+ controls accommodate telematics for remote engine and machine monitoring. New optimized cooling packages have the hydraulic fan controlled by G+ to adapt cooling needs to job-site conditions for both a quiet and efficient operation. It has improved fuel efficiency with a power-optimized engine and load-sensed hydraulic circuits. The new GBox on GOMACO legs allows improved steering and grade with G+ controls. It’s part of GOMACO’s electronic and hydraulic initiative. GBox features a new location for the slave controller and proportional valves, reduces hose and wiring needs, eases serviceability and troubleshooting, and provides easy access with a horizontal swing door at ground level. G+ controls make all of these advancements possible on the next generation GHP-2800, next generation Commander III, and all the machines in GOMACO’s full line of concrete equipment.

Along with the G+ advantage, GOMACO also showcased improvements to their full line of concrete slipform pavers. The next generation GHP-2800 was equipped with the 5400 series paving mold and the rear loading, front inserting 5400 series bar inserter. The mold can be equipped with telescoping inserts and telescoping end sections for easy width changes. The GHP-2800 featured new 90 degree tracks to reposition the legs into transport mode, get on or off stringline, or to avoid obstacles on the job site. The legs also feature hydraulically-adjustable pivots for adjusting the paver’s leg position on-the-go. G+ Ground Control on GOMACO pavers offers an operator’s display at ground level with the same G+ graphical interface as the main operator’s station. Ground personnel can see everything on the screen that the operator can see, and also have the ability to fine tune the paver, make settings adjustments, and monitor the operation from the ground. The small and handy MiniMote available with G+ provides on-the-spot assistance for fine adjustment of the paver’s set up. G+ Connect features an entire library of sensor capabilities for controlling slope, grade and steer. The Sensor Library includes capabilities for paving with 3D systems, laser control, sonic sensors, rotary sensors, slope sensors, and all of their set-up requirements.

The next generation Commander III with redesigned frame and operator’s platform including a new pivoting control console was introduced at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014. The frame accommodates Tier 4 engines and their cooling packages. The placement of the engine in the framework is reversed to provide increased operator visibility and the redesigned engine shroud provides easy access to service and fill points. The pivoting operator’s console allows the operator to have hands-on control and ultimate visibility no matter what application is being slipformed or the direction of travel. Along with the increased operator visibility, the next generation Commander III offers increased operator comfort. The operator’s platform is now isolated to eliminate vibration. It’s also quieter to work on the platform or around the machine. The Commander III has the new optimized cooling package and power-optimized engine. The excellent fuel efficiency combined with an increased fuel capacity allows an uninterrupted day of paving on the project.

GOMACO showcased a full paving train in their booth, including a PS-2600 placer/spreader, the next generation four-track GHP-2800 slipform paver, and new four-track T/C-5600 texture/cure machine. The G+ advantage for high-production curb and gutter, sidewalk, safety barrier, half-width and full-width paving, variable width paving, and paving with automatic dowel bar insertion was displayed. The newest updates for the GSI®, the GOMACO Smoothness Indicator tool for reading and achieving optimum rideability results, was showcased. The job-proven C-450 bridge deck finisher rounded out GOMACO’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 display.
