On July 30, Groff Tractor & Equipment Inc. purchased the assets of Cambria Tractor in Ebensburg, Pa. Groff's newest location will be known as the Ebensburg location and is located at 4355 Admiral Peary Highway, Ebensburg, Pa.

This acquisition has been many years in the making as it was part of Groff Tractor's original vision when it acquired territory and opened branches in western Pa. in 1998. "The Ebensburg location and territory is the missing piece of the puzzle that Groff Tractor has been waiting for in order to complete our contiguous footprint in two-thirds of Pennsylvania," said Mike Savastio, president, Groff Tractor.

Customers of Cambria Tractor will see many familiar faces as Groff Tractor retained all of the previous employees who applied. In addition, at least two employees are transferring from the Bellefonte location.

The acquisition "will give us the ability to provide better coverage for our customers, including an additional branch and employees with many years of experience in the construction equipment industry," said to Katie Reed, director of human resources and marketing. "In fact, all of the employees hired from Cambria Tractor have worked in the industry for 15 to 30 years."

Positive Changes Ahead

There are many positive changes that will benefit customers as a result of this acquisition, according to Groff. First, customers formerly working with Cambria Tractor will now have access to all of Groff Tractor's inventory, product lines and branches. Additional inventory allows for more in-stock equipment for sale and rent, and substantially more in-stock parts inventory. It also will allow for additional service technicians, many of whom have specialized training in various product lines. With Ebensburg being only about an hour west of Bellefonte and east of New Stanton, Groff Tractor will have the ability to dispatch service technicians from other branches when needed.

"Although we will bring the benefits of economies of scale to the Cambria Tractor customers, we want to assure them that we don't have a cookie cutter approach to the operations of our company or branches. Our operational procedures vary to meet the needs of the customers in the area closest to each branch," said Savastio.
