Construction Equipment Guide

Grove Manlift’s articulated 60-ft. (18.3 m) class boom, the A60J, offers many customer requested features, along with the Rapid Rise main boom.

The Rapid Rise main boom design, a new feature, allows the platform to be lowered to the ground with the riser fully elevated and from the ground to its full height of 60 ft. (l8.3 m) in less than 40 seconds. The A60J is one of the only 60 ft. articulated units to offer this standard feature.

The A60J was designed for versatility and user operation with maximum working range and performance. An up-and-over height of 25 ft. (7.62 m) and a full 40 ft. (12.2 m) of outreach, combined with a 140-degree articulating jib, enhance the three dimensional ability of the unit. The lift has a gross vehicle weight of 21,500 lb. (9,752.2 kg) and standard 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steer. The 4-wheel drive feature gives the A60J a top speed of 4.0 mph (6.4 kph) and gradeability of up to 50 percent. The standard 4-wheel steer provides an inside turning radius of 6 ft. 6 in. (1.9m).

Another major feature of the unit is the Super Flex Buss control system that expands machine control and simplifies troubleshooting with LEDs and an optional hand-held optimizer. The solid-state design increases system reliability. Machine functions can be easily set up and customized to individual customer preferences.

Additional features of the A60J include the following:

• A new ergonomic upper control box with multi-axis joystick control for the lift and swing functions.

• A swing out engine tray with either an 85-hp (63kW) water-cooled Cummins diesel engine or a 60-hp (44 kW) water-cooled Ford dual fuel engine.

• Control Enable that de-energizes the upper control box (UCB) when no function is selected within 15 seconds of the foot pedal being depressed.

• Pump Enable that de-energizes the main hydraulic pump when no function is selected to prevent any uncontrolled movement.

• Fiberglass styling.
