Grove Transporter Helps Haul With Ease

Construction Equipment Guide

Crane Rental Service Inc. (CRS) uses Grove’s RT transporter to move its new RT650E rough-terrain crane from job to job. Headquartered in Orange, CA, and with a second location in Tempe, AZ, CRS serves Southern California and Arizona. The Grove distributor, ACM Equipment Rental and Sales Co., supplied the RT650E and RT Transporter to CRS and also has provided them with truck cranes, all terrain cranes and other rough terrain cranes in the past. CRS handles a wide variety of applications including general hoisting, concrete tilt-up work, freeway work, general trucking and machinery moving. They also have operators specifically trained to perform refinery work.

Partnering with Grove, the CT-245 RT transporter is built by Nelson Manufacturing of Ottawa, OH. A gooseneck and two-axle dolly attach to the crane providing an alternate transport system to a traditional low-boy trailer. The crane is raised on outriggers and used to quickly install the gooseneck and dolly, which are locked into place with air pins. The outriggers are then raised, the air brake and electrical lines are hooked to the tractor, the crane’s parking brake is disengaged and ready to go.
