“Horizontal Drills, Harleys and Horsepower” was the theme of Ditch Witch of Alabama’s 12th Annual Jet Trac Rodeo Blowout this fall.

Approximately 125 customers and other guests gathered for a jam-packed day of activities that included training sessions, a barbecue feast, a motorcycle parade and a rodeo that involved Ditch Witch horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment.

There was also a special appearance by the Super Witch, a wheelie-popping, earth-shaking, modified Ditch Witch trencher that always draws a crowd.

After lunch, participants from local utility and underground construction companies entered the corral for the Jet Trac rodeo, which challenged each team to use its own HDD equipment to make a 200-ft. bore in the fastest time and with the greatest precision. Each team had to drill as close as possible to flags at the 50-, 120-, and 200-ft. marks; a penalty point was assessed for each inch away from the flag.

Operating a JT920L, representatives of Underground Inc. in Wilmer, AL, took home the trophy. They received a $5,000 parts credit at Ditch Witch of Alabama. Second place and a $3,000 parts credit went to the team from Mobile Pipe and Welding of Mobile, AL, who used a JT2720 Mach 1. The bronze medal and $1,000 parts credit went to the team from South Alabama Utilities, Citronelle, AL, who operated a JT2720 Mach 1.
