Hendrick Construction Inc. has completed The Fillmore Charlotte, a 20,000-sq.-ft. venue at the North Carolina Music Factory’s entertainment complex in Fourth Ward.

The project’s design is based on the original Fillmore, the world-famous music venue in San Francisco. The Fillmore Charlotte is the largest night club of its kind in the region, with a capacity of 2,000 patrons.

“This was an exciting project to build, and we’re proud to contribute to Charlotte’s growing market for music and entertainment,” said Roger Hendrick, president of Hendrick Construction.

“As a top 10 U.S. market for Live Nation, Charlotte is the perfect city for a brand new Fillmore,” said Wilson Howard, president of Live Nation South East, the venue’s operator. “Like the original Fillmore, music fans can expect to get a healthy dose of rock ’n’ roll history while seeing their favorite bands. It’s the kind of venue that Charlotte music fans are going to love.”

The North Carolina Music Factory’s other entertainment venues include the 5,000-capacity Uptown Amphitheatre, 1,500-capacity Front Stage, and various other bars and restaurants.

“Charlotte is becoming a regional destination for entertainment,” said Noah Lazes, president of the ARK Group, the developer of the North Carolina Music Factory. “The Fillmore, as well as the other venues at the North Carolina Music Factory, will bring national acts to Uptown and attract music fans from across the Carolinas.”

The Fillmore Charlotte features exposed ceilings, wood floors, and modern stage, sound and lighting systems. The roof of the existing structure had to be raised over the stage area to accommodate unique sound and lighting systems for various artists and performers.

The venue also has The Fillmore’s trademark red velvet draperies, chandeliers, custom lighting and vintage concert posters. The building was once an historic Charlotte manufacturing site, and it features a blend of original materials and wall finishes with modern fixtures and VIP areas with granite countertops and burnished ceramic tiles.

The Fillmore Charlotte is operated by Live Nation — the largest producer of live concerts in the world, annually producing more than 22,000 concerts for 1,600 artists in 33 countries. The company sells more than 50 million concert tickets a year. Live Nation also operates the Uptown Amphitheater.
