Highway & Public Works to Be Held Oct. 30 in Syracuse

At last year’s expo, this 1957 Caterpillar D4-7U was currently under restoration by John Schoeck of Canastota, N.Y.

Jerry Sanders, Associated Industrial Riggers, Syracuse, N.Y., found this 1970 Hendrickson truck in Ohio. It had been previously owned by his father and used in his rigging business, Carpenter Riggers and Haulers. Sanders restored the truck in honor of his dad.

The Carman family of Binghamton, N.Y., Steve, Tom and Walt, are a part of Bedrock Buckets & Booms, the local chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association (Ohio). This is a 1936 Bay City Twenty, which was used as a New York State machine. It went through a few owners before the Carmans found it in a pit, restored it and got it running. They’ve had it to a few shows, including the nationals in Ohio, Connecticut and Rhode Island. There were 2,000 made back in 1936 to 1940.

The 2019 N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo is fast approaching and will for the first time be held at the new $63 million Expo Center in the Fairgrounds in Syracuse on Oct. 20, 2019.

The new building is the largest expo facility north of New York City between Boston and Cleveland.

Built in 2018 by HBP Joint Venture, Hueber-Breuer Construction, The Pike Company, QPK Design, Gilbane Building Company and C&S Companies, the new Expo Center boasts 110,000 sq. ft. of open floor space and can accommodate more than 7,900 people. The building itself is 90 ft. tall and boasts 183 overhead light fixtures, which will help you get a great look at all of the new equipment and services during the Expo.

The N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works will feature more than 100 exhibitors who'll be showcasing the newest in construction equipment and services, snow removal equipment and more.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Superintendent's Profile, the first 750 attendees who go through the turnstile will receive a special gift.

Also, the 25th annual N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo will feature the second annual Antique Equipment Drive-In.

Grand prizes will be a pair of Buffalo Bills Jim Kelly Club tickets and a pair of tickets to an upcong race at Watkins Glen.

A first-come, first-serve free lunch also will be provided for attendees.
