On April 13, 2018, Highway Equipment & Supply Company's Drums, Pa., branch held its fifth annual Customer Appreciation Day at Whitetail Preserve in Sugarloaf, Pa. The purpose of this yearly event is to spend quality time with customers and generate interest in the equipment.

With the largest attendance to date, almost 150 local customers came to look at the equipment lineup and enjoy a beautiful, sunny day of skeet shooting, trap shooting, sporting clays and free giveaways.

Whenever a white sporting clay appeared, the lucky shooter selected from a free Highway water bottle, Volvo CE, Carlson Paving Products or LeeBoy Performance branded hat, or Volvo belt buckle.

The event also featured a raffle, courtesy of Katie Crow, district finance manager of Volvo financial services. The prize included dinner and tickets to a Baltimore Orioles game.

The team from Herron Electric in Mountain Top, Pa., won the drawing.

"We look forward to this event now every spring, and really appreciate Highway inviting us to your outing. It's a great way to kick off the year," said an attendee.

While Customer Appreciation Day is a great opportunity for customers to familiarize themselves with Highway's staff and equipment, the event also gives Highway's staff a chance to make memories and learn more about them as well.

"Al from Weiner Iron ate lunch at Katie's table and entertained her with his life stories," Adam Drumheller of Drums service department, recalled. "Katie may never be the same after that."

"Our customers were exposed firsthand to new models and brands," said Ryan Flood, vice president. "As a result of the event, we are sending an SDLG 918 compact wheel loader to demo; we sold a Bobcat MT85 mini track loader to a local municipality; and there is a sale in the works for an EC250E crawler excavator."

Highway staff included Flood, Drumheller, Territory Sales Managers Joe Rick, Adam Bogert and Ryan Whitmiller. Also present at the event were Bobcat Sales Line Representatives Jason Bissol and Jamie Kane. Highway's Jordan Coats, sales coordinator; Justin Bloss, service manager; and Mary Wagster, HR, marketing and communications assistant were responsible for promoting and coordinating the event. Bob Palermo, former sales manager, who retired on Dec. 29, 2017 after 55 years of service with Highway, also made an appearance.
