Hill Remediation & Construction Services, Pennington, N.J., does a lot of the industry’s dirty work: jobs with daunting names like “air sparging,” “soil vapor extraction” and installing and maintaining “dewatering systems.”

The woman-owned business enterprise got its start in 1992 and has been growing steadily ever since to become a full-service remediation company with hundreds of clients throughout New Jersey and the surrounding states.

“Hill Remediation does everything from small residential clean-up from leaking underground storage tanks, mostly for insurance companies, on up to large contaminated industrial commercial sites that are slated for future development,” said J.R. Evangelista, vice president.

In addition, Hill provides Geoprobe and drilling services and waste disposal services including recycling and junkyard and construction site cleanup.

Of course, heavy work requires heavy equipment, and Evangelista, currently working on a site in Harrison, N.J., has come to rely on Harter Equipment Inc., Millstone Township, N.J.

Evangelista started working with Harter as a small landscaper 25 years ago and has taken Harter with him every step of his journey to becoming vice president of a prominent firm.

“Harter, no matter how small or large the project may be, gives immediate and precise response each time we need them,” Evangelista said.

The Harrison, N.J., project involves removing contaminated soil from a site that is slated for the building of a large development. Harter Equipment has supplied rental equipment for the job including a Kobelco SK330 excavator, a John Deere 700LPG crawler dozer, a Vibromax VM106 compactor and a Kubota RTV900 utility vehicle.

“The job has been going very well. The field crew have been on site for about 11 months and have about four weeks left until we finish,” Evangelista said at the beginning of June. “The equipment we get from Harter is always in good working order.” CEG
