Construction Equipment Guide

The Zaxis 450LC-3 features the new Isuzu AH-6WG1XYSA-01 six-cylinder Tier III-certified engine, the new Hitachi HIOS III hydraulic system, a new more comfortable cab, strengthened components, and easier serviceability, according to the manufacturer.

The Zaxis 450LC-3 weighs 106,180 lbs. (48,163 kg) and comes standard with a 12-ft., 10-in. (3.9 m) arm; a 20,172-lb. (9,150 kg) counterweight; and 36-in (900 mm) triple semi-grouser shoes.

Other arm lengths available include 9-ft. 6-in. (2.9 m); 11-ft. 2-in. (3.4 m); and 16-ft. 1-in. (4.9 m). A 20-ft. 7-in. (6.3 m) mass-excavating boom with a 9-ft. 6-in. (2.9 m) arm also is available as are 30-in. (750 mm) triple semi-grouser shoes.

The Isuzu engine achieves its output — 348 net peak hp (260 kW) at 1,800 rpm — and reduction in fuel consumption primarily through a cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation system and a common-rail fuel-injection system that eliminates differences in suction pressure among cylinders.

A boom mode switch, when turned on, reduces vibration and impact shock-loads due to less lifting or pulling of the body.

The CRES II cab features a wider seatback, more foot room, and 47 percent more glass on the right side for visibility. Propel pedals have been reshaped for easier use.

The cab structure has been strengthened against greater external pressures.

The new LCD multifunction monitor is multilingual. From the seat, the operator also can make oil flow adjustments for attachments by using the monitor.

Undercarriage, upperstructure and front attachment areas have been strengthened.

The loading capacity of the swing circle has been increased by adding more ball bearings to the swing circle.

The parallel arrangement of the radiator, oil cooler and intercooler makes it easier to clean around the engine.

Inspection points are located and grouped together. Bucket lube points have been repositioned for easier access, while the rest of the front attachment receives automatic lubrication.
